World Future Energy Summit - WFES 08

Background

The first ever World Future Energy Summit (WFES 08) run by Turret Middle East was launched at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre in Abu Dhabi. The summit consisted of a conference, exhibition and gala dinner that attracted over 11,000 visitors including royalty, ministers, heads of state and company CEO's from all over the world.

Solution

The organisers Turret ME Group appointed Revelation as production management company for the WFES 08 conference and gala dinner.

Opening ceremony

The global event was opened by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in front of 3,500 people and the worlds press.

As part of the occasion and to further demonstrate his commitment to the environment by reducing his carbon footprint, HRH the Prince of Wales addressed the audience as a 3Dhologram.

Revelation's responsibilities included stage management & production at the ceremony, the smooth execution of the Prince Charles hologram & delivery of a world first for any royal family.

During the conference Revelation were responsible for managing the local production teams, as well as organising and coordinating all other elements of production.

These elements included the stage and set construction, lighting, sound, rigging, crewing, IT network and Simultaneous Interpretation headsets for 2000 people translating the presentations from Arabic to English. Revelation also managed the AV equipment on all the exhibition floor features such as: the Time Out Pavillion featuring 4 Nintendo Wii's provided for people to play and take a break from the exhibition, the VIP Lounge, the Media Centre; a meeting room and press area featuring 40 PC's and internet connection, and a seminar room named the Future Theatre.

The Revelation team were responsible for ensuring the programme ran to time, and looked after all the presenters through the management of a speaker lounge where they were welcomed, allowed to make amends to their presentations and able to relax before they went on stage.

Gala Dinner

Taking place outdoors on the Emirates Palace terrace, Revelation provided a full technical production service for the evening gala dinner, attended by dignitaries and heads of state from around the world. Revelation, who designed the stage and set, managed both UK and local crew in the build and execution of the event.

Video Production

In addition to the production management, Revelation were asked to produce a specially commissioned video shown at the Gala Dinner to launch the Sheikh Zayed Prize, an awards event set to be one of the most prestigious environmental awards that one can win.

Results

The entire event was heralded as a global success, with huge world press interest. Everyone involved in the launch of this prestigious occasion was thrilled with the outcome. The development of plans for the next summit are already underway with Revelation teams in the UK and the Middle East closely involved.
