Background

The BBC Natural History Department is based in Bristol and is the division of the BBC that focuses on science and nature. They produce award winning programmes, articles and books on a wide range of topics. Recent features and programmes have included Killer Dinosaurs and Alan Titchmarsh’s British Isles: A Natural History.

They approached Revelation Event Management to organise their annual Christmas Party as a result of a specific marketing campaign promoting Revelation’s party services. The brief was to create a Christmas Party to remember for their staff!

Solution

Revelation provided a complete party planning service to the BBC Natural History Department, which included full event production and management, venue management, theming, floral displays and logistics.

The Christmas party was held at an exclusive venue, Leigh Court, just outside of Bristol and the theme for the evening was black and white. The venue was dressed to reflect this theme with fantastic lighting and projected images. There were also huge Christmas trees, again beautifully dressed, and stunning black and white floral table centres.

This glamorous, formal event started when the guests arrived outside the venue. They were greeted by ‘parparzzi photographers’ (actors) and the venue was beautifully lit, indicating to the guests that this was going to be a fabulous night’s entertainment.

Once they entered Leigh Court there was a drinks reception to welcome the guests with mulled wine and canapés. The main meal, a lovely buffet, was held in a marquee specially constructed for the event, and was enjoyed against a background of music from a pianist and singer. There were a few surprises from the ‘comic’ waiters and this added to the general merriment of the evening. After desert, coffee and mince pies were served and then the guests moved back into the main house for the after dinner entertainment. There was dancing into the night at the disco, and for the betting guests there were Roulette and Black Jack tables. Finally, at 1.30am the guests were collected by coach and taken back to Bristol.

As Revelation provided a full event management service, the BBC could relax and enjoy the run up to the evening and the evening itself knowing that Revelation had everything under control.

Results

The Christmas party was a great success with all the guests having great fun. A representative from the BBC stated “The feedback from the party was excellent. We had a fantastic time and thought Revelation was great, especially our project manager who made sure everything was perfect on the night.” In addition, the y added that the one thing Revelation did exceptionally well was “helped us keep to budget & ensure the organisation of the evening kept to a timetable”.
