Dave scales new heights with PLASA
Congratulations to Dave Dickinson on becoming one of the very first riggers in the UK to earn the new PLASA National Rigging Certificate, placing him among the most sought-after riggers in the business!
Dave's been a valued and popular part of Revelation's on-site production team for many years and gaining his NRC Level Two is a major achievement for him as well as a great resource for us and our clients.
The Professional Lighting and Sound Association was established over 27 years ago and has over 500 members worldwide representing disciplines such as professional audio, lighting, staging, rigging, AV and communications. The association provides training, support and advice to its members as well as offering qualifications that have become industry benchmarks.
PLASA works alongside the government to agree the standards of the certificate, which are then incorporated into the qualification scheme. These government owned standards can then be applied and used for qualifications across many other industries, whilst giving entertainment rigging a recognised status as a profession. PLASA's work with the government provides greater understanding of our industry and constantly watches the development of UK, EU and international laws and regulations that effect us and, ultimately, the shows that we produce for you.
With health and safety becoming a greater issue each year and with standards and demands rising in our industry, by creating a new qualification based on rigorous training and assessment it could provide employers and clients with confidence that they are employing the best riggers with the highest standards available.
Congratulations again to Dave for joining that elite club!
