Our World

A word from the editor

Welcome to Revelation's newsletter designed to give you a brief insight into our world, inspire you with some new ideas and share some of our events with you.

The team decided to make the most of the summer weather and organise a BBQ as part of our 10th year celebrations. We were joined by our extended team of event partners as well as special guest, Phoebe. We entertained ourselves playing games on a Wii console which was rigged up to an HD 65” plasma screen! - surprisingly larger than expected - but awesome!

As well as enjoying the sunshine, we have also been hard at work managing and producing some fantastic events which you can read about below. Highlights of the quarter have been the LEO Pharma Company Day which included a drum workshop, working with Ace Group at the Boodles Tennis Championship and the Travelers Top Brass Conference.

I'd like to take this opportunity to give a big welcome to Naomi Jones, who joined us in April as our General Manager responsible for the Middle East office. Naomi has worked in events for 9 years and her proudest professional achievement is her international experience; having managed events across 14 countries and four continents. Naomi was born in the UK and moved to Dubai 3 years ago. Outside of Revelation she is passionate about scuba diving and playing football. Naomi's focus is to develop a focused, talented and motivated team, ensure that our partnership with our sponsors ADNEC becomes seamless and concentrate on business development. One of Naomi's first large events for Revelation Middle East was Gastech 2009 for which she worked with dmg World Media, Abu Dhabi Division, to produce the exhibitor reception launching Gastech 2011, to be located in Amsterdam. Guests were greeted by two very pretty Dutch Human Statues, in traditional dress and treated to a roaming electronic saxophonist, whilst enjoying cocktails and canapés.

“Revelation provided us with an innovative reception for the Gastech 2011 launch party; they maximized the space available and provided entertainment options that met our budget and theme perfectly.” Event Operations Manager, dmg World Media.

We have a number of events planned in the next couple of months that we are very much looking forward to. We have the inaugural Global Event Summit which we are very excited to be sponsoring, as well as award ceremonies such as the International Wine Challenge, Baking Industry Awards & the Edie Awards, plus our fifth consecutive year producing the European Autumn Gas Conference (EAGC) with dmg World Media.

Enjoy the sunshine!

What's Happening

Boodles Challenge

Hosted at the fabulous venue of Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire, the Boodles Challenge (now in its 8th year) has established itself as one of the 'must attend' summer social gatherings with guests having the opportunity to mingle with tennis' elite. The event attracts a number of world ranked players as it is deemed an ideal grass-court practice prior to Wimbledon which takes place the following week.

Ace Group is a boutique international sports management and marketing company who have organised the event since its launch. At our first Boodles appearance, Revelation were appointed as AV and technical management on site, supplying and managing the audio visual equipment across the courts, various sponsor marquees and spectator areas.

The team installed a PA system in the main marquee which had the facility to broadcast either just to the Boodles Gallery, or to the dining area, or to both areas simultaneously. We also provided the PA system for the centre court. This was a system that was finely balanced to give audio coverage of both umpire and post-match interviews over the whole seating area. This audio was also sent approx 150m to a lawn area for those not watching the matches to keep up-to-date with the scores. For the press, audio was transmitted via a wireless link to the media centre where press were attending from many of the UK's leading media organisations.

Ace Group Director said “Revelation are a great team; they are easy to deal with, they're totally flexible, especially with last minute changes that crop up and above all they meet deadlines which means we can relax in the knowledge that the job will be done.”

Revelation are A - OK!

For the second time in as many months, events that Revelation produced have appeared in OK! Magazine. The first to appear in this top glossy was the Worlds 50 Best Restaurant Awards where we supported long standing event partner William Reed and then more recently the Audi Polo Awards for the ACE Group.

Datasharp Conference

The Datasharp Principals annual meeting was held once again at the Marriott St Pierre in Chepstow, and for the fourth year Revelation are proud to have produced the conference. This year the format was the Datasharp Internal Conference in the morning and then suppliers were given the chance to present new innovations, products and news throughout the rest of the day.

Our role in the event was to manage the production elements, such as the audio visual requirements of the conference, including the sound, lighting & projection, as well as the stage and set design and build. In addition between each presenter, clips of comedy acts were shown. These videos had been encoded by the Revelation team to improve the quality of them and then played out to the audience.

The conference concluded with an evening dinner and entertainment.

The day went really well and the client was very happy with the results. In a feedback survey completed after the event, the Datasharp team gave Revelation 100% on all aspects of the event, which is wonderful. “Thanks for all your help with the slides and videos for the presentations.”

Datasharp and Revelation worked alongside each other in a different capacity earlier this year when Datasharp installed all our telephonic and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system at Hope Manor Farm.

LEO Pharma Company Day

Every 6 months LEO Pharma hold their Company Day to report on facts, figures and company developments. After the success of January's event which included the launch of LEO's new product Xamiol, Revelation were asked to produce the conference again, with the addition of organising an energising team activity for the afternoon.

The conference, held at the Crowne Plaza Marlow, was chaired by MD, Dennis Dencher and featured six internal LEO Pharma speakers. The set was designed and rigged by Revelation and the provision of Gobos, full lighting, sound, event sting and presenter's media were all supported and managed by the Revelation on-site crew.

The drum workshop certainly engergised the team, which started as individual drumming and worked up to a finale where everyone drums one song together...in time! That's no mean feat with 182 delegates. In addition they can now all perform the Haka. After all that activity delegates relaxed with a BBQ.

“Thanks for a great day! You kept me sane by being so organised.”

Events we loved

Travelers – Top Brass Conference

Background

Travelers is a member of The Travelers Companies Inc. - a worldwide property and liability insurance organisation. In the UK, Travelers provide a range of property and liability insurance products aimed at the electronics and other technology related industries.

The Travelers event named 'Top Brass Conference' was designed to discuss their exclusive Privilege & Reward Programme.

Solution

In our first event working together, Travelers appointed Revelation to provide a full event management and production service for the two day conference, which also featured a Caribbean themed BBQ in the evening.

As the brand colour, red was used throughout the conference; reflected in the set, stage, lectern and lighting. All the required AV equipment including sound, lighting and media was managed by the onsite crew which included technicians, Project Manager and Event Manager.

Based on the brief to find a speaker who was both motivational and had the ability to lift the team at the end of the conference, Revelation sourced Ultra Marathon competitor Luke Cunliffe. Luke has competed in over sixty marathons, ultra-marathons and mountain races and so well knows the motivation it takes to succeed. He came across incredibly well and the client was very pleased with the choice.

For the Caribbean theme there was a BBQ, tropical bar serving rum cocktails, a Caribbean band and a selection of giant games. Guests were asked to wear something Caribbean and everyone made a real effort which made the night really go with a swing. Even the weather stayed fine and dry for everyone to enjoy (although contingencies had been made in case the British weather hadn't been so kind!).

Results

The client was delighted with the result of the event and deemed it a big success. The service that we provided was rated so highly that we have already managed another event for Travelers since that wasn't booked before! One member of the events team said “For Revelation, nothing is too much trouble”.

Global Event Summit

Revelation are proud to be a key sponsor of the inaugural Global Summit being launched in the UK so leaders of the world's exhibition organisers and venues can get together and talk business, whilst growing a global network of contacts to develop new opportunities. Promising a stunning line-up of speakers, the Global Event Summit will take place between 1st and 3rd September at the exclusive Grove venue, Herts.

The Summit is organised by tfconnect, and CEO Trevor Foley (former CEO of the Event Industry Alliance in the UK) states the reason it is being launched is because 'thinking global' is occupying the thoughts of more and more event organisers and venues. The summit will feature a very strong and important financial session, take a look at the latest technologies available to our industry and discuss what the future looks like from the Global Future Forum.

With Revelation supplying an experienced onsite team to provide event management & AV production support, working closely with Trevor and other key stakeholders, the smooth running of the debutante event is assured.

Water Graphic Display

Water Graphic Displays

These versatile displays can be used for branding at parties, on a stage, on an exhibition stand or maybe at an entrance to a conference - wherever they are put they will create a dramatic effect and an immediate wow factor.

The dynamic water display screen is made up of hundreds of precision jets of water. These jets open and close allowing water to only fall in certain places resulting in an infinite number of design and animation possibilities. In short, any message or logo that you require the screen to display, can be recreated. The water is collected in a small trough at the bottom so that no mess is created.
